Southeastern Conference teams still have time to impress five-star offensive lineman Amarius Mims but now they know just how much time they have to do it.

The No. 1 prospect from the state of Georgia in the 2021 recruiting cycle announced on Thursday that he plans to announce his commitment publicly on Oct. 14. The Bleckley County standout from Cochran, Ga., is rated as a five-star recruit, the nation’s No. 2 offensive tackle and the No. 8 overall prospect in the nation by 247Sports Composite Rankings.

In addition to his pending decision date, Mims also listed the following SEC programs among his current contenders: Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Outside of the SEC, Mims also listed Clemson, Florida State, Oklahoma, Oregon, North Carolina and USC among his contenders.

The 6-foot-7, 315-pound offensive lineman is committed to competing in the 2021 Polynesian Bowl following the conclusion of his high school career.

This spring, Mims visited Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama and Florida.
