When games take on a nickname, there’s a good chance they’ve already become an all-time great. In the SEC, these happen every year. For the rest of this month, the SEC Network has packaged some of the best games of all-time for appointment viewing.

Virtually every team is represented in these games that often spawn T-shirts, and have fans recalling where they were, what they were wearing and other specific details of the day. They’re the kind of games that would cause otherwise neutral fans to stop the remote control and settle in with some popcorn.

The 16 games were chosen following a poll of fans, and include two games from this past season, and then date back to the 1990s.

Alabama is featured in several of the games, and perhaps most telling about the Crimson Tide’s history is that more than one of the games is an all-time great for the program that pulled the upset.

The matchups also spark some of the best arguments and debate the SEC has produced, at least in the last decade plus. The 2007 season is most known for such a topsy-turvy, upset-riddled result. And no game better illustrated that season than the 43-37 triple-overtime classic between Kentucky and LSU that was one of several upsets which shook up the national championship race. Despite the loss, LSU recovered to win the BCS Championship.

The programming began Saturday night but is scheduled to continue for the next 10 days.

It’s a perfect way to whet your appetite until this season begins.
