Though it has only been played 13 times, the Battle Line Rivalry between Arkansas and Missouri has seen some pretty incredible individual performances across the series’ history. Plenty of great players have take the field across the years for the 2 and there are still so many chapters still to be written.

With the Tigers set to host Arkansas in a battle for their bowl eligibility in just a few days, now is as good a time as ever to highlight the 10 best individual performances from the brief, yet entertaining history between the 2 border state universities.

Let’s get to it.

10. Harrison Mevis, Mizzou 2020

Roll your eyes all you want.

Mevis accounted for 20 points in Missouri’s win over Arkansas in 2020, including the game-winner as time expired. He hit 5 of 5 total field goals and all 5 extra points. His 5 field goals are the most made in one game in series history.

Only Arkansas QB KJ Jefferson accounted for more points than Mevis in the Tigers’ 5th straight win over the Razorback. Mevis also knocked through a 51-yarder to put Mizzou on the board in the first quarter.

9. KJ Jefferson, Arkansas 2020

Jefferson had the 2nd best day for a quarterback in series history in 2020, throwing for 274 yards and 3 touchdowns with 32 yards rushing and 1 rushing touchdown in a backbreaking 50-48 loss (thank Harrison Mevis for that one, Arkansas fans).

Jefferson hit 3 different receivers for touchdowns, including 10 to Treylon Burks, who finished with 206 yards and 1 touchdown on the afternoon. Let’s count Burks’ day as an honorable mention on this list.

8. Emanuel Hall, Mizzou 2018

Treylon Burks’ day was good, but this may be the best receiver performance in the series’ history. Hall snagged 6 receptions for 153 yards and 2 touchdowns against the Razorbacks in 2018, including an exclamation point before halftime to take a 28-0 lead.

He capped his day with a  67-yard touchdown reception from Drew Lock to start the 3rd quarter.

7. Trelon Smith, Arkansas 2020

Trelon Smith was one of 2 incredible running back performances from 2020’s version of the Battle Line Rivalry.

Smith totaled 173 yards rushing with 3 touchdowns on the day, averaging 6.6 yards per play. A pair of his touchdown rushes were over 15 yards and his final put Arkansas up 14 points with 13 minutes remaining in the game.

6. Tyler Badie, Mizzou 2020

This is one of a seemingly endless number of fantastic running back performances from these 2 teams across their 13 matchups. Tyler Badie was also incredible in this game similar to Smith, adding 79 yards and 2 touchdowns of his own, including 2 in the 4th quarter.

Those 2 in the 4th quarter were incredible one 46 yards and one 25 yards. Badie turned it on when it mattered, effectively erasing a 14-point Arkansas deficit by himself.

Larry Rountree III was also a star in this game, rushing for 185 yards and 3 touchdowns. But ultimately, the Tigers do not win this game without Badie’s late-game heroics.

Let this be a lesson that the stats do not tell the whole story.

5. Cedric Cobbs, 2003 Arkansas

Cedric Cobbs rushed for 141 yards and 1 touchdown to lead Arkansas to its Independence Bowl win over the Tigers in 2003.

He was named the offensive MVP and netted his 7th straight 100-yard rushing game with the performance.

4. Alex Collins, Arkansas 2015

Alex Collins rushed for 130 yards and 3 touchdowns in one of just 2 Arkansas wins over Mizzou since their move to the SEC in 2012.

He scored 3 of Arkansas’ 4 touchdowns on the day in a commanding 28-3 win for the first Battle Line Trophy.

3. William Moore, Mizzou 2008

The only defensive performance on the list is a good one.

William Moore led all defenders in Missouri’s 2008 Cotton Bowl win over the Razorbacks, totaling 13 tackles, a pick 6, a forced fumble and 2 pass deflections.

The future 2nd round defensive back made life very difficult for Arkansas QB Casey Dick.

2.  Drew Lock, Mizzou 2017

Ah, there he is.

Drew Lock threw for 448 yards and 5 touchdowns in Missouri’s 2017 shootout win over Arkansas. Of those 5 touchdowns, 2 came in the 4th quarter.

5 touchdowns in the most thrown by any quarterback in the series.

1. Tony Temple, Mizzou 2008

Nobody holds a candle to Tony Temple’s Cotton Bowl performance.

Temple was unstoppable against Arkansas to end the 2007 season, rushing for 281 yards and 4 touchdowns, averaging 11.7 yards per rush. For context, his previous high was 194 in the Sun Bowl against Oregon State in 2006-07. Talk about going out with a bang.

He score the first 3 touchdowns of the game, as well as the final, galloping for a 40-yard touchdown rush to put the cherry on top of a 38-7 victory.
