You know the summer has officially arrived when the college football preview magazines have hit newsstands across the country. One of the first magazine to hit the shelves this year was the annually esteemed Athlon Sports College Football Preview Magazine with their 2016 edition.

Tuesday, Athlon Sports posted their predictions online for the SEC for the upcoming season, selecting not only the conference’s champion but every school’s predicted standing – as well as a few individual and coaching honors.

SEC East predicted standings

  1. Tennessee, 10-3 overall 6-2 in the SEC
  2. Georgia, 9-3 overall 5-3 in the SEC
  3. Florida, 8-4 overall 5-3 in the SEC
  4. Kentucky, 6-6 overall 3-5 in the SEC
  5. Vanderbilt, 5-7 overall 3-5 in the SEC
  6. Missouri, 5-7 overall 2-6 in the SEC
  7. South Carolina, 4-8 1-7 in the SEC

SEC West predicted standings

  1. Alabama, 12-1 overall 7-1 in the SEC
  2. LSU, 10-2 overall 6-2 in the SEC
  3. Ole Miss, 9-3 overall 6-2 in the SEC
  4. Arkansas, 8-4 overall 5-3 in the SEC
  5. Texas A&M, 7-5 overall 3-5 in the SEC
  6. Auburn, 6-6 overall 3-5 in the SEC
  7. Mississippi State, 6-6 2-6 in the SEC

Alabama over Tennessee

Athlon’s panel of five analysts unanimously selected LSU running back Leonard Fournette as Offensive Player of the Year and four of the five selected Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett as the Defensive Player of the Year. Georgia quarterback Jacob Eason was also an unanimous selection for SEC Freshman of the Year.
