Here’s a look at the best classes by position on defense in the Southeastern Conference for the 2016 recruiting cycle.

DEFENSIVE LINE: Auburn

Five-star defensive tackle Derrick Brown was the icing on the cake for an outstanding and much-needed defensive line class at Auburn, which includes Brown and fellow tackle Antwaun Jackson, along with ends Marlon Davidson and Paul James.

Also considered: Alabama, Florida, LSU

LINEBACKER: Alabama

The Crimson Tide closed with two in-state five star linebackers — Ben Davis and Lyndell Mack Wilson. Those two are enough to call this the best class at that position in the league.

Also considered: Georgia

SECONDARY: LSU

The Tigers landed two of the nation’s top five cornerback prospects in Kristian Fulton and Saivion Smith and also landed a top three safety prospect in Eric Monroe, among others.
