As South Carolina looks to sort out its quarterback situation, the Gamecocks are hoping to end a 4-game losing skid in this series.

Jimbo Fisher holds a 2-1 record over Will Muschamp (all three meetings were when they were at Florida State and Florida, respectively). This is the first of three consecutive road games for the Aggies.

This game is also a trophy game as the winner will receive — or keep — the Bonham Trophy, named after a South Carolina native who rode into the Alamo. That was news this week to the South Carolina coach.

“Well, hell, we ain’t won, so we ain’t got it over here, I can tell you that,” Muschamp said on the SEC Media Teleconference this week.

Here are five bold predictions for each team entering Saturday’s 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff on the SEC Network:

South Carolina will insert Dakereon Joyner

Missouri coach Barry Odom planned in case this happened last week, but Joyner will make his biggest impact this week.

After the Kentucky loss, coach Will Muschamp said there are things Joyner does extremely well, and if called upon, that’s how the play-calling would be tailored. Especially with the new redshirt rule, one would think Joyner would see his first action soon knowing that the Gamecocks have four games to work with, and this A&M game means they have six remaining. With Jake Bentley hobbling last week, Joyner received first-team snaps before the Missouri game. As the QB situation remains in flux with Bentley and Michael Scarnecchia, Joyner gaining more experience makes it more likely he’ll see action.

Braden Mann sets NCAA punting record

The Texas A&M punter has already landed an 82-yard punt against Kentucky and had four punts against Alabama that traveled more than 60 yards, and his average in that game, 60.8, was an NCAA record. Overall, he has 12 punts of 60 or more yards. The NCAA record for a season is 13 (by Ryan Plackemeier of Wake Forest in 2005). Mann will be an especially strong weapon against South Carolina and Bryan Edwards, who is a bit hobbled with an ankle injury.

Muschamp will pull a healthy Jake Bentley

When Muschamp announced Tuesday that Bentley would start, if healthy, that was a sizable caveat. However, his injury status masks his turnover troubles, and even after not playing against Missouri, Bentley still leads the SEC with 6 interceptions. Look for Scarnecchia to come in after halftime, especially if South Carolina is trailing because of Bentley turnovers. Bentley has thrown an interception in the first half of all three SEC games this season.

Nick Harvey makes a splash on a punt return

Muschamp said the coaching staff didn’t ask the Texas A&M transfer to answer questions about his former team, but that doesn’t mean Harvey won’t be fired up to make a memorable play. With Edwards dealing with a sore ankle, look for Harvey to get a chance in the punt return game, and make the most of it.

Texas A&M scores a special teams touchdown

Much of the concern entering this season was trying to replace Christian Kirk, particularly in the return game. The Aggies have had a positive return game this season, including Jashaun Corbin’s kickoff return for a touchdown against Arkansas, and a long punt return against Kentucky. Look for more fireworks on special teams.

Deebo Samuel lands first 100-yard game

South Carolina’s star receiver has quietly fallen behind Edwards as the top receiver for the Gamecocks. Samuel has had a relatively quiet season with just 3 touchdowns and has yet to record a 100-yard receiving game. He had 4 catches for 88 yards and a TD against Missouri, and two other games where he made 7 catches, but didn’t eclipse 60 yards.

Kellen Mond continues turnover troubles

The Texas A&M quarterback has seen a rash of interceptions in recent weeks, and his touchdown to interception ratio has taken a hit as a result. Mond has thrown 5 interceptions in his past three games (all SEC games), compared to just 3 TDs. Meanwhile, the South Carolina defense also turned up the turnover heat with 4 picks in three weeks, including 2 against Missouri.

Trayveon Williams gashes South Carolina defense

The Texas A&M running back was somewhat limited in last year’s game, with just 56 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries. But this time, South Carolina’s rush defense has left plenty to be desired, and it’s ranked second-to-last in the SEC, giving up 194 yards per game. It has a sort a bend but don’t break mentality as it tends to stiffen near its own goal line, but look for Williams, the SEC’s leading rusher, to have his fifth 100-yard game of the season.

Aggies deliver a sack show that disrupts South Carolina QB plans

Texas A&M had 7 sacks against the Gamecocks last year, and the Aggies turned in 6 last week against Kentucky and 5 two weeks ago against Arkansas. This would lend credence to Bentley not playing. If he does, it certainly increases the likelihood that he’ll eventually give way to Scarnecchia or Joyner.

Parker White delivers a third career game-winner

South Carolina’s kicker won his second career game last week with a last-second boot against Missouri. It has been quite the resurgence of a career for White, who struggled in 2017. He’s made 8-of-9 field goal attempts this season, a dramatic improvement from last year when he was 14-for-25. Last week, White made all three kicks in the soggy second half. With a game that oddsmakers have pegged inside of a field goal, look for White to kick the game-winner with less than a minute remaining.
