Watch list season continues for another week as the latest preseason watch list to be announced comes from the Butkus Award.

The honor, giving out annually to the nation’s best linebacker and named after the Illinois and Chicago Bears legend Dick Butkus, has been around since the 1985 season. The Butkus Award Selection Committee is made up of 51 experts, including professional, college and high school scouts, and media members.

Three of the previous four winners of the award hail from the SEC as LSU’s Devin White won the honor in 2018, Georgia’s Roquan Smith won it back in 2017 and Alabama’s Reuben Foster won it in 2016. Last season, the SEC’s streak was broken when Clemson’s Isaiah Simmons won the award.

Based on the number of SEC linebackers on the 2020 watch list, there’s a good chance the SEC wins another Butkus Award in the coming season.

Here is a complete list of every player honored on the preseason Butkus Award watch list.
