So, this football thing made Kyler Murray quite a bit more money than baseball.

The Arizona Cardinals signed No. 1 overall pick Kyler Murray to his rookie contract Thursday. If you’ll remember, the Oakland Athletics drafted Murray with the ninth overall pick in the 2018 MLB Draft, but he opted to stick with football.

It’s a good thing he did.

The Athletics and Murray agreed to a $4.66 million signing bonus and a total contract worth $18.6 million. Now, his Cardinals contract is worth quite a bit more. Per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Murray signed a four-year deal with $35.1 million full guaranteed, with a $23.59 million signing bonus.

That’s a lot of zeros and generational wealth.

It’ll be fun to see Murray in Kliff Kingsbury’s offense. It’ll be wide open, and Murray is the perfect signal caller to run it.
