There’s a reason the Indianapolis Colts have had several solid draft selections under the watchful eye of 2018 NFL Executive of the Year, Chris Ballard. The man comes to every draft prepared for all scenarios.

The latest evidence of Ballard’s preparedness came on Friday as the Colts general manager shared that he had a generator installed at his home for the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.

“At the end of the day, I’ll pick up my phone and call in the pick,” Ballard said according to Mike Wells of ESPN.

That’s incredible but totally necessary considering the position the NFL teams are in heading into what may be the most strange draft in NFL history.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, NFL teams are being ordered to hold their drafts away from their team offices and at home. Even NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell will be at home in his basement announcing the first-round selections.

What happens if the power goes out and a call can’t be made? We may have a flood of selections like we saw back in 2003 when the Minnesota Vikings failed to turn in their first-round draft selection on time, which resulted in two teams behind the Vikings in the draft order making quick selections and bypassing Minnesota.

No chance that happens to the Colts this year, thanks to Ballard’s generator.
