Restrictions within the state of California to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus has led to the potential of one of the 2 College Football Playoff semifinal games being moved from the Rose Bowl to another site. One potential alternate location could be AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex., according to reports from Yahoo! Sports’ Pete Thamel.

On Tuesday, College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock publically addressed the possibility, and it appears—at least for now—that things will remain as originally planned: for the Rose Bowl Stadium to continue to serve as the site of one of the 2 semifinals this year, along with the Sugar Bowl at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in New Orleans. Hancock also reaffirmed the Rose Bowl’s push to let family members attend, a plan that could be in jeopardy due to the restrictions placed on Los Angeles County and other parts of the state.

“At this moment, the College Football Playoff looks forward to playing one of the two semi-final playoff games at the Rose Bowl, as scheduled,” Hancock said in a statement. “As we move forward with our planning, we continue to hope that the Rose Bowl’s appeal to government officials to allow the families of student-athletes to attend will be permitted, just as student-athlete families will be welcomed at the Sugar Bowl, the other New Year’s Six games and the Championship game in Miami.”
