It sounds like a broken record. Another year in college football, and most everyone is predicting Alabama and Clemson to play again for another national championship.

But which teams can challenge the Tide and Tigers in the College Football Playoff?

College GameDay is live from Disney World Saturday morning for its first show of the season, and they discussed that very subject. Two SEC teams were mentioned — Georgia and Texas A&M.

Desmond Howard isn’t sold on Alabama this year. He thinks the Tide got exposed and “punched in the mouth” against Clemson. Howard thinks that Texas A&M can jump into the conversation with both Alabama and Clemson. Howard mentioned that Jimbo Fisher is building a great program in College Station, and interestingly, the Aggies play both teams during the regular season.

Unlike Howard, David Pollack said Georgia is the team who can challenge the duo for the College Football Playoff. Pollack cited the experience of quarterback Jake Fromm and the talent that Kirby Smart has been recruiting in Athens.

Kirk Herbstreit picked Big 12 power Texas as the team who can challenge the Tide and Tigers this season. Tom Herman’s club exposed Georgia in the Sugar Bowl 28-21. In fact, Herbstreit picked Texas to make the College Football Playoff this season.
