Can you imagine the Iron Bowl being played twice next year, once in Tuscaloosa and once at Auburn?

That possibility may be very unlikely, if it has any shot at all, but that’s an example of a type of series that is being discussed for the upcoming college football season according to college football insider Brett McMurphy of Stadium.

“Some conference schools already are having preliminary discussions w/their other conference members about possible home/home series this year, in case all of their league members can’t play, sources told Stadium,” McMurphy shared on Wednesday.

The Stadium insider did not provide any follow-up information or provide any further details on that comment but it’s safe to assume any of the discussions of this nature likely are coming from schools either within the same state or very close by in terms of proximity to one another.

There’s no telling if travel restrictions will be in place come the fall but if one state does not allow a team to travel or host an out-of-state team, these talks now could save programs from being forced to cancel games during the season and instead result in in-season adjustments in the fall.
