The depth and talent of the quarterback position in the Southeastern Conference in recent years has been so ridiculous that a handful of former league signal-callers could all be selected in the top two rounds of the 2020 NFL Draft.

That’s the way NFL Media’s Daniel Jeremiah sees it as we inch closer to the league’s latest annual selection process.

The NFL Draft analyst recently shared his “QB Tiers” during an appearance on the NFL Network and, to no surprise, Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa are the lone signal-callers among the elite group.

“Well, I think there’s three distinct tiers at the top group of quarterbacks and I start with the first two which is Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa, those are top 10 picks in any draft class in my opinion,” Jeremiah said. “There’s that type of talent that’s there. I think there’s a little bit of gap, after those two before we get to the second tier.”

On to his next tier, Jeremiah notes that NFL teams are split between which signal-caller should be taken third in the 2020 NFL Draft.

“That’s where we find Justin Herbert and Jordan Love. And teams are very split on how they have those two players, it’s a ceiling floor debate,” Jeremiah added. “Love with the higher ceiling, Herbert the safer pick, a higher floor.”

Finally, the NFL draft analyst shared his take on three former SEC QBs that he believes could all go in the second round of the upcoming draft.

“And then we get to the interesting tier, which I’m going to call the tier of the three J’s, because we’ve got Jalen Hurts, we’ve got Jacob Eason, and we’ve got Jake Fromm and to me, that is the second round group of quarterbacks,” he concluded. “I think there’s a real chance we see all these guys go in the top 50 picks in the upcoming draft.”

We all knew the quarterback talent was rich in the SEC but we may not have realized just how deep the league’s roster of signal-callers based on these comments.
