The state of Mississippi will be the first in the SEC footprint to allow sports betting after a recent Supreme Court ruling made it so states can decide whether they want it or not.

And, betting will be online just in time for the 2018 college football season. In fact, they’ll be ready for some preseason bets, too.

According to a report from SunHerald.com, the first bets will be placed on Wednesday, Aug. 1, around noon local time:

The first sports bet in Mississippi will come on Aug. 1, which is 26 years to the day after the first casino in the state opened in Biloxi in 1992.

The initial wagers are expected to be placed simultaneously at about noon at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi and at Gold Strike Casino in Tunica. Sports books at the two MGM Resorts International casinos will then open to the public.

Other SEC states could also have betting sites online in the coming months and years, but for now, Mississippi is alone in that regard.
