ESPN analyst Cole Cubelic tweets takeaways from SEC's Week 9 action
SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic gives a weekly roundup of his thoughts on the latest action across the conference.
After a few light weeks due to COVID cases and contact tracing quarantines, we were back in double-digits this Saturday with 12 SEC teams in action. Ole Miss-Texas A&M was the only scheduled conference game that had to be postponed.
Cubelic’s takeaways can be viewed below, via Twitter:
ARKANSAS-
Brutal game. Fought hard. Needed some of those breaks. Big weapons at WR made big plays. 42 great again upfront, he’s the heartbeat. 3rd downs just killer. Can’t go without a single conversion. Still easy to se the positives & growth with where things are headed.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 22, 2020
FLORIDA:
Offense is just on another level. Creating, seeing things, making plays. Fun to watch. Ball distribution continues to be something that will be difficult for teams to deal with. Defense had some let downs. Busts & contested balls are going to be an issue if not cleaned.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 22, 2020
KENTUCKY:
Credit to Stoops for getting guys in uniform & playing the game. Liked the plan early. We’re not winning with FG’s. Had to capitalize with TD’s on that field position. Fight was strong early but firepower just lacking. Allen looks like the future. Went down the field!— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 22, 2020
MISSISSIPPI STATE:
The offense has adjusted some things in the run game to help. Not quite enough in protection. But it’s looking more like it’s designed to look. QB is showing the patience & acceptance to make it go. DL is a massive headache for opponents. High risk in coverage.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 22, 2020
SOUTH CAROLINA:
Knew it was going to be tough under the circumstances. Doty got his shot. Added something to the run game. Flags hurt. Needed Smith to be there for more. Numbers on defense made things difficult to manage. At least the kids who made the trip competed. That’s a +— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 22, 2020
VANDERBILT:
Brought some effort. Credit to the staff for that. Defense doesn’t have perimeter guys for that matchup. Tough without 21. Seals is growing. Gave his guys opportunities to make plays. Numbers have been tough all year. The fight has not disappeared.— Cole Cubelic (@colecubelic) November 22, 2020
