The College Football Playoff field of four is set by the selection committee’s rankings, but media members stir the pot with their own rankings. Mark Schlabach has updated ESPN’s Power Rankings after Week 12, and the SEC should hope that the committee doesn’t follow his lead.

After ranking Clemson at No. 1 and Ohio State at No. 2, Schlabach finally ranks LSU No. 3. After the three big undefeated teams, Schlabach has Oregon at No. 4, ahead of Georgia and Alabama.

In Schlabach’s field, the Bulldogs and Crimson Tide would be the first two teams out at Nos. 5 and 6. Other SEC teams to make the Top 25 Power Rankings are Florida, Auburn and Texas A&M.
