There are 5 games featuring a pair of SEC teams taking place in Week 4. And there’s a good chance that quite a few of them are going to be competitive matchups.

While a blowout or 2 is likely on the horizon — such as Georgia going on the road as a heavy favorite against Vanderbilt — other conference contests should be much closer. LSU-Mississippi State, Texas A&M-Arkansas and Kentucky-South Carolina may all be decided by 10 or fewer points.

That’s what the SP+ system believes will happen, as ESPN’s Bill Connelly shared his SP+ projections for Week 4 on Wednesday. The SP+ model is an “opponent- and tempo-adjusted look at the most sustainable and predictive aspects of college football” that is “intended to be predictive and forward-facing,” per Connelly.

Here are the SP+ projections for the scores of this week’s contests featuring SEC teams:

Georgia 45, Vanderbilt 5
Mississippi State 26, LSU 26
Boston College 32, Missouri 28
Texas A&M 30, Arkansas 20
Auburn 41, Georgia State 17
Kentucky 29, South Carolina 23
Florida 34, Tennessee 21
Alabama 44, Southern Miss 7

While the projected score for Mississippi State-LSU gives both teams 26 points, the system believes the Bulldogs will win, as it gave them a projected win margin of 0.4 points.

Mississippi State defeated LSU on the road in the 2020 season opener, and now it will look for similar success at home on Saturday.

It’s also worth noting that the SP+ model believes Texas A&M won’t have too much trouble with Arkansas. The game may be somewhat close, but the Aggies are projected to win by 2 scores on the road against the Razorbacks in a battle of 3-0 ranked teams.
