Alabama is stuck on 4. Oh, the horror. Maybe this is the year the Tide produce 5 or even 6 first-rounders in the NFL Draft. Anything greater than 4 would shatter the program record for most first-round picks in a single NFL Draft and establish a new mark for the SEC.

Auburn and LSU also have produced 4 first-rounders in an NFL Draft. Thirteen of the 14 SEC schools have had multiple first-rounders in one draft, according to research compiled from pro-football-reference’s draft database.

Here’s a look at every program’s record for most first-round picks in a single draft and the year (or most recent year) it happened:

Alabama

Most first-rounders: 4

Most recently: 2018 NFL Draft

Skinny: The Tide have reached this mark 4 times in the Nick Saban era (2011, 2012, 2017, 2018). They seem to be a lock to have at least 4 first-rounders again in April. Before Saban, the program high was 3.

Arkansas

Most first-rounders: 2

Most recently: 2008 NFL Draft

Skinny: What a first-round duo that was, too. Darren McFadden, twice a Heisman runner-up, was taken No. 4 overall, and backfield mate Felix Jones went No. 22.

Auburn

Most first-rounders: 4

Most recently: 2005 NFL Draft

Skinny: Ronnie Brown (No. 2) and Cadillac Williams (No. 5) led the way, but DB Carlos Rogers (No. 9) and QB Jason Campbell (No. 25) also joined the first-round parade. Little wonder that 2004 Auburn team went 13-0.

Florida

Most first-rounders: 3

Most recently: 2010 NFL Draft

Skinny: No surprise that Florida’s most recently great team, the 2009 Gators, supplied 3 first-rounders. Those Gators won the national championship the season before and suffered only one loss in 2009 — the SEC title game to Alabama. Joe Haden was taken No. 7 overall, followed by Maurkice Pouncey (No. 18) and Tim Tebow (No. 25). How dominant were the Gators in that 2006-2010 stretch? They had 9 first-rounders in the five drafts following those seasons; they’ve had 9 first-rounders in the 8 drafts since.

Georgia

Most first-rounders: 3

Most recently: 2018 NFL Draft

Skinny: The Bulldogs set the program record last April when Sony Michel snuck into the first round at No. 31, joining Roquan Smith (No. 8) and Isaiah Wynn (No. 23). The question now is, how long will that mark last?

Kentucky

Most first-rounders: 3

Most recently: 1966 NFL Draft.

Skinny: Sure, Tim Couch went No. 1 overall in the 1999 NFL Draft, but no teammate joined him and his selection ended the Wildcats’ 14-year first-round drought. The odd part about the 1965 team that produced the program-best 3 first-rounders is that they finished just 6-4 after going 5-5 the year before despite having QB Rick Norton, who was taken No. 2 overall.

LSU

Most first-rounders: 4

Most recently: 2007 NFL Draft

Skinny: Shortly after LSU’s 2006 team finished 11-2, JaMarcus Russell (No. 1), LaRon Landry (No. 6), Dwayne Bowe (No. 23) and Craig Davis (No. 30) were selected in the first round. How did the Tigers respond to losing a program-record 4 first-rounders? They replaced their QB and won the 2007 national championship.

Mississippi State

Most first-rounders: 2

Most recently: 1996 NFL Draft

Skinny: The Bulldogs might not break the program record in April, but they seem to be a safe bet to match it with Jeffery Simmons and Montez Sweat both projected as early first-round candidates. Keep an eye on hard-hitting safety Johnathan Abram. He potentially could sneak into the first round, too, which would set the program record.

Missouri

Most first-rounders: 2

Most recently: 2011 NFL Draft

Skinny: That was the third time the Tigers produced 2 first-rounders in the same draft. In 2011, the honors went to DE Aldon Smith and QB Blaine Gabbert.

Ole Miss

Most first-rounders: 3

Most recently: 2016 NFL Draft

Skinny: Laremy Tunsil (No. 13), Laquon Treadwell (No. 23) and Robert Nkemdiche (No. 29) put Ole Miss football back on the map, though not always for the right reasons.

South Carolina

Most first-rounders: 2

Most recently: 2012 NFL Draft

Skinny: The Gamecocks have only produced 13 first-round picks in program history. The 2011 team produced two of the better ones. Stephen Gilmore (No. 10) has become a 2-time Pro Bowler and is playing in his second Super Bowl with the Patriots, and Melvin Ingram (No. 18) has made the Pro Bowl each of the past two seasons.

Tennessee

Most first-rounders: 3

Most recently: 2002 NFL Draft

Skinny: The 2002 draft class is the most recent to produce 3 first-rounders, but the 1998 class is more famous. Peyton Manning went No. 1 overall and was joined by Terry Fair (No. 20) and Marcus Nash (No. 30). And, just like LSU, the Vols lost their franchise QB and won the national championship the following year.

Texas A&M

Most first-rounders: 3

Most recently: 2014 NFL Draft

Skinny: LT Jake Matthews (No. 6) has started every game in his career and just earned his first Pro Bowl nod. WR Mike Evans (No. 7) is a making his second Pro Bowl appearance. Johnny Manziel (No. 22) was a chance that didn’t work out.

Vanderbilt

Most first-rounders: 1

Most recently: 2008 NFL Draft

Skinny: Vandy has produced 9 first-rounders, just never 2 in the same year. OL Chris Williams (No. 14), the most recent, had a productive career. QB Jay Cutler, taken No. 11 overall in 2006, had the best NFL career.
