Winter Park, Florida, safety standout Dakota Mitchell reopened his recruitment this week with a Friday decommitment from LSU. On Sunday, he shared a final 5 (via Twitter) which includes LSU along with Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Oklahoma.

According to his 247Sports recruiting profile, Mitchell received all but one of his 28 scholarship offers before originally pledging to LSU on March 19. (Arkansas extended an offer in April.)

Listed at 6-feet, 184 pounds, Mitchell is rated 3-stars, the No. 28 safety, No. 69 recruit in Florida and No. 407 prospect overall nationally in the class of 2021 on the 247Sports Composite.

After his decommitment from LSU, Mitchell tweeted that he and uncommitted Orlando Edgewater 4-star wide receiver Christian Leary would be signing together in a package deal.

Leary retweeted Mitchell and then posted a UF recruiting graphic featuring the two prospects.

Earlier this month, Leary backed off a planned commitment date of June 6 to take more time. He also revealed a final 5 of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Oklahoma and Ohio State.

If the “package deal” holds, this looks to be an Alabama-Florida-Oklahoma battle. Or maybe Leary will start to warm to Georgia and LSU. Things have a way of changing quickly in college football recruiting.
