There is still a lot of football left to be played in the regular season, but fans are already debating on whether Georgia or Alabama is the best team in the country.

The Bulldogs edged the Crimson Tide for the No. 1 spot in the debut list of the College Football Playoff Top 25. Nevertheless, Georgia will have to play well down the stretch to hold onto that ranking. Georgia has looked strong this year and features the kind of intense defense and strong running game that can control a game.

On the other hand, Alabama has dominated the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll all season and looks like a team destined for another trip to the Playoff. The Crimson Tide may be ranked No. 2 on the Playoff rankings, but they have the best shot to improve their resume down the stretch with games against LSU, Mississippi State, and Auburn remaining.

Regardless of their rankings, Alabama and Georgia seem destined to square off in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game. Tim Tebow broke down the potential matchup Friday morning, and he said he would give a slight edge to one team.

Jordan James with 247 Sports shared Tebow’s comments Friday morning:

“Right now I’m going with Alabama,” Tebow said Friday morning. “I think they’re the best team from top to bottom…I do believe they’re the best two teams in the country, and I do think they’re going to meet on a neutral field.”

Tebow’s potential x-factor for the matchup would be Alabama QB Jalen Hurts:

“I think (Alabama quarterback) Jalen Hurts with his ability to run would be the x-factor,” said Tebow. “I trust him more than I trust (Georgia quarterback) Jake Fromm. Although Fromm is coming along and making more plays, I would lean toward Alabama in a game.”

Fans will just have to wait and see for a potential matchup between the top two teams in the country.
