Georgia freshman defensive end Chauncey Rivers was arrested on a marijuana charge for the second time in 38 days.

According to an Athens-Clarke County jail booking report, Rivers was arrested at 1:12 a.m. on Saturday morning for possession of one ounce or less of marijuana, which is a misdemeanor. As of 7:25 a.m., Rivers was listed as “currently incarcerated,” according to jail records. His bond has been set at $1,000.

Rivers was already suspended earlier this season for a separate incident involving marijuana, missing the Kentucky game in Week 10. At that time, he was arrested for possession of marijuana, also a misdemeanor charge, after admitting to smoking in a campus parking lot with teammate Natrez Patrick on Nov. 7. Patrick was also suspended for the game against the Wildcats.

According to the UGA student-athlete handbook, Rivers is subjected to a suspension of “no less than 30 percent of the total sport season.” He will also have to complete 40 hours of community service and “will attend substance abuse counseling and evaluation sessions.”

The 6-foot-3, 272-pound pass rusher was rated as the No. 127 overall prospect out of Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Ga., in the Class of 2015 and was rated a four-star recruit. He’s played in four games this season and has registered 4 tackles with a tackle for loss.
