When it comes to SEC East and West champions, almost everyone is picking Georgia and Alabama, respectively.

However, the SEC Player of the Year race is much more open, and on Friday, “Thinking Out Loud” co-hosts Marcus Spears and Greg McElroy made their picks.

As you can see in the tweet below, Spears thinks Mississippi State QB Nick Fitzgerald will win the award, while McElroy gives the nod to Georgia RB D’Andre Swift:

Both of those players are on teams with high expectations, so team wins will help their cases. Also, both are dynamic players who can affect the game in different ways.

Guys like Mizzou QB Drew Lock, Auburn QB Jarrett Stidham, Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa and others will have their say in the matter, too, but it’s hard to fault either of those picks.
