The SEC had quite a haul of players chosen in the 2017 NFL Draft, but two teams did not have a single prospect taken.

Kentucky and South Carolina each had at least one prospect capable of going in this year’s draft, but it appears they will have to wait to sign with a team as an undrafted free agent.

Center Jon Toth and running back Stanley “Boom” Williams, who left after his junior season, are the Wildcats who will most likely be signed as undrafted free agents. For South Carolina, that player is outside linebacker Darius English.

After a strong junior campaign, Williams could have raised his stock even more by coming back for his final season at Kentucky. The 2017 Draft Class was pretty loaded at the running back position, which hurt Williams’ chances.

There were plenty of SEC players who opted to return for their senior seasons instead of trying their luck in the draft, including star Georgia running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. As teams look to increase their overall depth and talent, it may benefit a player more to stay until they are truly the top dog on the depth chart or have eliminated any big question marks.

That being said, there are some interesting prospects from Kentucky and South Carolina for the 2018 draft. Jordan Jones, Josh Allen and Denzil Ware are a talented trio of linebackers, and any of them could opt to leave prior to their senior seasons. Skai Moore has returned from injury for the Gamecocks, and he looks like a solid NFL Draft prospect for next season, among other South Carolina defenders.

Georgia, Mississippi State and Missouri were the only SEC teams with only one player selected in the NFL Draft.
