Kirk Herbstreit reveals medical issue will keep him from attending 2022 NFL Draft
Kirk Herbstreit has been part of ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage the past couple of years, with the College GameDay crew taking over on ABC while the traditional NFL crew holds the ESPN spot.
But, for the 2022 NFL Draft this week in Las Vegas, Herbstreit won’t be able to be in attendance to provide analysis.
As you can see below, Herbstreit took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to reveal that, due to a blood clot, he’s not going to be able to cover the draft:
Hey guys-wanted to update you on my situation this week. Unfortunately I won't be part of our ESPN/ABC NFL Draft coverage. Our team in Vegas will have it covered, and I will be watching.
Congrats to all the players! I love this event and look forward to returning next year. pic.twitter.com/UvBsI3TaUV— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) April 25, 2022
“Unfortunately, I will not be able to come out to Vegas and be a part of this year’s coverage,” Herbstreit said. “Doctors have recently found a blood clot in my system. Very fortunate to have really good doctors who I trust. I feel good. But, out of an abundance of caution, I think I’m just going to take a step back from this year’s draft coverage. We still have a great team out in Vegas with ABC and ESPN. Unfortunately, I just won’t be with them at this year’s event.”
Hopefully, Herbstreit is given the all-clear soon and can return to covering live events. For now, though, his absence will be noted during this week’s NFL Draft coverage in Las Vegas.
