The SEC has some great football coaches, from Nick Saban to Kirby Smart to Jimbo Fisher and others. However, the conference also has some elite basketball coaches.

Rick Barnes, John Calipari, Frank Martin, Bruce Pearl and others lead the way, but which group is better — basketball or football coaches?

On Tuesday, SEC Network analyst Cole Cubelic joined Chris Childers on SiriusXM and both agreed that the basketball coaches were better 1-14:

“You want me to answer honestly?” Childers asks. “Basketball by a lot.”

“It is not even close,” Cubelic responds. “That’s how much this league has changed.”

Now, again, Saban has six national titles to his name, and Fisher has one (from his time at Florida State). Meanwhile, only Calipari has a title among SEC basketball coaches. Still, it’s an interesting debate, and the SEC does have a lot of really good basketball coaches at the moment.
