The Oklahoma Sooners won an exciting Big 12 title game over rival Texas on Saturday, making a couple of big defensive plays to seal the 39-27 victory.

However, there was a great play that sealed Oklahoma’s win — a beautiful throw and catch from QB Kyler Murray to TE Grant Calcaterra.

But, after the game, controversy arose surrounding that huge play. As you can see below, the Sooners had five men in the backfield, so it should have been flagged for an illegal formation:

The officials missed that one, and it cost the Longhorns a chance for the comeback. Of course, it’s no guarantee the Longhorns would have won, but this play was a big one, as the Sooners would have likely had to settle for a field goal to make their lead eight points if that play hadn’t been allowed.

It’s too late to change the call now, but those officials may be hearing from their conference office on Monday.
