Media reacts to Alabama's first-half dominance against Tennessee
Aside from one highlight Tennessee touchdown, the first half of the Third Saturday in October played on the fourth Saturday of the month has been all Alabama. The Crimson Tide is showing no sign of a post-Georgia hangover, leading Tennessee 28-10.
The QB battle is not close. Mac Jones is 17-of-22 for 297 yards while Jarrett Guarantano is 5-of-10 for 76 yards. Alabama has 396 yards of offense, while Tennessee has just 160.
Various highlight plays and Alabama’s overall dominance has had college football media members tweeting about the game. Below, check out a small sample of the first-half reaction on social media.
Genera reaction:
Alabama is Alabama but Tennessee has missed as many tackles in this half as any we've seen probably ever in the Pruitt era.

Sometimes college football will surprise you and sometimes you get Alabama-Tennessee.

It’s wild to think out of the two quarterbacks Alabama took in the 2017 recruiting class it’ll be Michael McCorkle Jones who wins the Heisman

Jarrett Guarantano is the box of chocolate that Forrest Gump was speaking of.

John Metchie appears to be a dude.
— Aaron Suttles (@AaronSuttles) October 24, 2020
Bama receivers seem to always win. Which is why Mac Jones has the confidence to throw that into double coverage.

Holy crap what a play from Jones to Metchie into great coverage.

After reading Nick's comments today, I'm convinced college football has come down to whoever has the best set of quarterback/receivers. Twas LSU last year.

Mac Jones' 50-50 balls sure seem to get home 70-30.
— Chase Goodbread (@ChaseGoodbread) October 24, 2020
Is Mac Jones the best deep ball thrower in CFB? Yes he is.

If you were wondering how Third Saturday in October is going, Guarantano has a passing TD and Bama just completed a PAT with 10 players pic.twitter.com/SmYZiZijJT

Jeremy Pruitt was hammered for his decision to settle for a field goal:
Got to go for touchdowns. Not even sure if Mac Jones will throw an incomplete pass.
— Dr. SEC (@thedrsec) October 24, 2020
You don’t beat Bama kicking field goals on 4th-and-short down two touchdowns, Jeremy Pruitt.https://t.co/VEcVM0CeHS
— Barrett Sallee (@BarrettSallee) October 24, 2020
Pretty ridiculous that Pruitt didn’t go for it there and makes it clear that he has no aspirations of winning this game.

Brent Cimaglia’s 33-yard FG attempt is good.
Tennessee on the board. But FGs might not mean much today.
Bama 14, #Vols 3, 12:11/2ndQ.
— Wes Rucker (@wesrucker247) October 24, 2020
Not going to beat Alabama by kicking field goals.

On Tennessee’s second-quarter TD:
that was…good? A good play by Tennessee?

Battle got toasted there
— Drew Champlin (@DrewChamplin) October 24, 2020
Bill Battle might have kept better pace with that receiver.

On Tennessee’s possession after Alabama’s punt:
Lol Jeremy not even trying to win.
— Hunter Johnson (@HunterLJohnson) October 24, 2020
What in the world does Tennessee have to lose by throwing it around a bit there in final minute of the half?
If you don't have confidence in your quarterback, don't be surprised when he doesn't have confidence in himself.
— Gentry Estes (@Gentry_Estes) October 24, 2020
Tennessee runs it on third-and-8 with 20-some seconds before halftime.
That's weak stuff. https://t.co/nZnHM5loiJ

Yeah, that's right, bleed the clock.
