Week 8 was full of surprises for the SEC.

Kentucky took down Mississippi State 40-38 with a last-second 51-yard field goal, putting the Bulldogs on the outside looking in for another week. Kentucky is in for now, but the Wildcats still need two more wins, and their chances aren’t great.

Missouri fell to Middle Tennessee 51-45 in their own backyard, and it was homecoming. Once again, the Tigers are left out of the projections, and that’s not likely to change.

Over in the other Columbia, South Carolina barely pulled out the 34-28 win over Massachusetts. And the win wasn’t enough to get all four votes.

In Baton Rouge, Tigers RB Leonard Fournette punished the Landsharks with his runs, putting No. 25 LSU on top 38-21 over No. 23 Ole Miss.

No. 21 Auburn took no prisoners in its 56-3 rout of No. 17 Arkansas, moving up the Tigers in the projections.

And for those who thought the spread was outrageous for No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 6 Texas A&M, you were proven wrong by the Tide’s 33-14 beating of the Aggies.
