In what is quickly becoming a multi-day national story, Clemson coach Dabo Swinney has doubled down on comments he made regarding former QB Kelly Bryant not receiving a national championship ring.

This ongoing story has seen nearly every major college football personality weigh in. Like Swinney, SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum has commented multiple times on the issue, and criticized Swinney’s choice. Finebaum was on an Alabama radio station sharing his opinion, and then spent much of his radio show Thursday stoking the flames with Clemson fans.

“There’s nothing else for me to say, he wasn’t on the team,” Swinney said, according to WSPA7 via Joe Cook. “Simple as that. We played 11 games after he left, I think, played 15 games. I love Kelly but you got to be on the team. He certainly could’ve been here but he wasn’t. That’s the way it is.”

Finebaum even went as far to say that it will hurt Swinney in recruiting because parents will take notice that the coach didn’t handle the matter correctly. One of Finebaum’s guests, Ed Aschoff, came on the show to say that several Clemson players traveled to Missouri to support Bryant in spring practice.

Some of the other popular opinions for Clemson to handle the situation included how professional leagues vote on championship shares after players are traded, for example, or even put it up for a player vote.
