The initial rankings for the College Football Playoff are set to be announced Tuesday evening, and it is still up in the air on who will grab the No. 1 overall spot.

Alabama has been ranked No. 1 in the AP Poll since the start of the season, and it is hard to argue against the Tide’s body of work. They have just one win decided by single digits (Texas A&M) while starting 8-0 with an offense that has scored more than 40 points six times.

Meanwhile, Georgia has steadily climbed into the top four and has finally reached the No. 2 spot after a win over Florida and Penn State’s loss to Ohio State. The Bulldogs are making a strong case for being No. 1 and have a win over No. 5 Notre Dame on the road this season.

It seems inevitable that these two teams will be No. 1 and No. 2 on the first Playoff poll, and ESPN’s Todd Blackledge says it is hard to choose who is better between the two. Blackledge pointed to similar defensive performances between the two teams. However, he did say he would probably favor Alabama slightly due to a more seasoned QB in Jalen Hurts.
