North Carolina lawmakers introduce bill that could pull UNC, NC State from ACC
Some North Carolina lawmakers apparently weren’t happy that the ACC boycotted the state following the infamous HB2 “bathroom bill” last year. Now that the NCAA and ACC are once again willing to work with the state after it repealed HB2, a new bill was drafted to protect the state from further boycotts in the future.
According to Alex Rose of WGHP Fox8, a new bill has been drafted which would pull North Carolina and N.C. State from the ACC if the league once again decides to boycott the state. The reason these two schools are named, and not Duke or Wake Forest, is that they both receive funding from the state.

It’s important to note that this bill has not been passed at this time, it has only been introduced. It’s also unclear how much support this bill would actually have inside North Carolina’s government. In the event the bill is passed — however unlikely that is at this time, could the SEC scoop up either school if they left the ACC? After all, adding UNC would only further the SEC’s growing basketball presence.
