Ohio State played without junior defensive end Nick Bosa this past Saturday when it beat Tulane, 49-6.

The Buckeyes may be playing without Bosa for a while.

Bosa sustained a core injury in Ohio State’s win over TCU on Sept. 15, and he then underwent surgery the following week. Buckeyes coach Urban Meyer said Bosa’s absence was indefinite. However, Bosa’s father, John, told Ari Wasserman of The Athletic that Bosa will likely be out until November.

That is a huge loss for Ohio State’s defense as it looks to make a push for the College Football Playoff this season.

Bosa has 14 tackles, six for a loss, and four sacks in three games for the Buckeyes. He was also named a preseason All-American and is projected by many to be a top pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Without Bosa, Ohio State plays one of its biggest games of the season this Saturday. The No. 4 Buckeyes travel to take on No. 9 Penn State in a huge Big 10 Conference matchup.
