The Pac-12 appears to be terrible.

Some people out west may not feel that the SEC deserves to have two teams in the College Football Playoff, but the Pac-12 has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that it had absolutely no business even sniffing the playoff.

The conference’s best team — USC — was pummeled by Ohio State 24-7 in Friday night’s Cotton Bowl. On Saturday, its second-best team — Washington — wasn’t faring much better in the Fiesta Bowl.

Washington was trailing Penn State 28-14 in the second quarter at the time of this post.

SEC Network news editor Brandon Zimmerman pointed out on Twitter just how bad the bowl season has been for the Pac-12.

It hasn’t only been a poor performance on the big stage. It’s been a poor performance all around:

Perhaps Washington can salvage things in the second half.
