The Alabama-LSU game is circled every year, but this year especially, it will likely be for a College Football Playoff spot.

No. 1 Alabama will travel to a projected top four team in LSU in two weeks. First, both teams have bye weeks Saturday.

Paul Finebaum hopped on SportsCenter early Sunday morning to preview the big matchup.

“This will be a competitive game,” Finebaum said, “because Nick Saban coached at LSU and won a championship. He takes that game very seriously, and he’s a little more conservative. It’s a tight game. And when you look at the LSU offense, you don’t have to score 58 points to beat them. They are not very potent.”

The conversation then turned to whether QB Tua Tagovailoa will be in the game in the fourth quarter, seeing as he hasn’t taken a snap in the fourth quarter all year.

“I think he will,” Finebaum said. “I think Tua will be in there. I think it will be mop-up, because I think they’ll be running the clock out leading 20-3 or something like that. This will not be a high-scoring affair.”

Jonathan Vilma added, “This will be throwback SEC football.”

The Crimson Tide dominated Tennessee Saturday 58-21, while LSU suffocated Mississippi State 19-3.

LSU should join Alabama in the top four this week in the newly-released AP Top 25 Poll Sunday afternoon.
