It looks like St. Edward High School in Elgin, Illinois may need neutral-site help for the remainder of the 2015 season after this week’s grounds crew disaster.

A company maintaining the playing surface for the Green Wave killed most of the grass — including all of the home sideline — when weed killer, instead of fertilizer, was used recently.

“It was an honest mistake made in the mixing of chemicals for the field and they feel terrible about it,” athletic director P.J. White saod, according to the Chicago Tribune. “Someone grabbed the wrong bottle when they were mixing chemicals.”

Maybe St. Edward High can take a page from the Oakland Raiders and adjust to playing on dirt. The Oakland A’s baseball diamond is featured on the Raiders’ turf during the first few home games every fall until baseball season’s over.
