Arguably the biggest star of the opening round of the 2017 NFL Draft was former UCLA defensive lineman Takkarist McKinley. In case you missed it, after Atlanta selected McKinley with the No. 26 overall selection in the first round, the former Bruin went a little wild on stage.

During the entire scene, McKinley was holding a huge framed photo of his deceased grandmother. The moment was captured live on NFL Network as Deion Sanders did his best to interview the emotional rookie following his draft selection.

Here’s what McKinley had to say following his interesting interview.

“I probably went on stage and probably said a few curse words and kind of slipped up,” McKinley said. “Probably got fined already before I even got my contract.”

Give him credit for owning the moment of pure enthusiasm. Staying true to his heart, McKinley apparently has no intentions of leaving grandma behind, as the newest Falcon was photographed taking the framed photo with him to Atlanta.

Without a doubt, his grandma would be proud of her grandson as he joins an elite list of first round talent to be taken in an NFL draft.
