The SEC is known for having some of the best defenses in the country, so it’s no surprise that most of the conference’s 53 2017 NFL Draft selections came on that side of the ball.

In total, 35 former SEC defenders were selected this week, with a pretty equal distribution among defensive linemen, linebackers and defensive backs.

Offensively, only 18 players were taken, led by the offensive line and wide receiver positions.

Every position had at least one draftee, but some fared better than others. Here’s a position-by-position breakdown of the 53 SEC draft picks (along with the highest overall selection at each spot):

  • DB: 12 (Jamal Adams, LSU — Round 1, Pick 6)
  • DL: 12 (Myles Garrett, Texas A&M — Round 1, Pick 1)
  • LB: 11 (Jarrad Davis, Florida — Round 1, Pick 21)
  • OL: 6 (Cam Robinson, Alabama — Round 2, Pick 34)
  • WR: 5 (ArDarius Stewart, Alabama — Round 3, Pick 79)
  • TE: 3 (O.J. Howard, Alabama — Round 1, Pick 19)
  • RB: 2 (Leonard Fournette, LSU — Round 1, Pick 4)
