It’s time for some expert predictions for Week 3 in the SEC.

There are 10 games involving SEC teams this week, so let’s take a look at projected outcomes for Saturday’s matchups, according to four different media outlets — USA TODAY, Bleacher Report, Athlon Sports and FBSchedules.

SEC PICKS BY USA TODAY COLUMNIST DAN WOLKEN

  • Tennessee over Ohio
  • Alabama over Ole Miss
  • LSU over Mississippi State
  • Texas A&M over Auburn
  • Georgia over Missouri
  • Florida over North Texas
  • Arkansas over Texas State

Note: Dan is feeling pretty good about going 21-2 overall last week and has obviously taken the safe route here, taking all favorites with the exception of Texas A&M (+3.5) over Auburn.

SEC PICKS BY ATHLON SPORTS EDITOR STEVEN LASSAN

  • Tennessee over Ohio
  • Vanderbilt over Georgia Tech
  • Alabama over Ole Miss
  • Kentucky over New Mexico State
  • South Carolina over East Carolina
  • LSU over Mississippi State
  • Texas A&M over Auburn
  • Georgia over Missouri
  • Florida over North Texas
  • Arkansas over Texas State

Note: It’s worth pointing out that Vanderbilt crushed a good Middle Tennessee team last week 47-24 after entering the game as a 3-point underdog. The Commodores are again without great odds this weekend in Atlanta as Georgia Tech currently sits as a 6.5-point favorite. Outside of this “upset,” it would be difficult to argue any of the other picks from Steven.

SEC PICKS BY BLEACHER REPORT COLUMNIST BRIAN PEDERSEN

  • Tennessee 47, Ohio 22
  • Georgia Tech 24, Vanderbilt 16
  • Alabama 33, Ole Miss 21
  • Kentucky 43, New Mexico State 24
  • South Carolina 27, East Carolina 22
  • LSU 33, Mississippi State 17
  • Auburn 26, Texas A&M 23
  • Georgia 26, Missouri 14
  • Florida 54, North Texas 10
  • Arkansas 46, Texas State 22

Note: A 12-point Alabama win over Ole Miss would be just enough to cover the spread. It would also secure the Crimson Tide’s 49th win over the Rebels in 60 total meetings. Meanwhile, a 33-point day for the LSU offense against a solid Mississippi State defensive unit would all but guarantee Danny Etling the starting quarterback position for the remainder of the season.

SEC PICKS BY FBSCHEDULES WRITER ERIC TAYLOR

  • Tennessee 44, Ohio 10
  • Vanderbilt 17, Georgia Tech 16
  • Alabama 20, Ole Miss 19
  • New Mexico State 48, Kentucky 45 (OT)
  • East Carolina 21, South Carolina 17
  • Mississippi State 27, LSU 20
  • Auburn 31, Texas A&M 21
  • Missouri 27, Georgia 19
  • Florida 48, North Texas 6
  • Arkansas 34, Texas State 7

Note: What would losses mean for Kentucky coach Mark Stoops and LSU coach Les Miles this weekend? I’d imagine that the result and all that ensued would not be favorable to either at this point. Kentucky desperately needs to play well for four full quarters, and a loss to New Mexico State — as a 21-point favorite, nonetheless — would send the Wildcats into a downward spiral entering their SEC schedule. LSU has beaten Mississippi State 15 out of the last 16 years and 22 out of 24. A loss at home to the Bulldogs might spell the end for Miles in Baton Rouge, whether it’s the day after the game or at season’s end.
