Prepare yourselves for an onslaught of SEC bias claims this weekend.

We’re projecting eight SEC teams will be ranked in this season’s first Associated Press Top 25, scheduled to release on Sunday afternoon. If it happens, that would match the same number in last year’s preseason rankings.

RELATED: 2015 preseason Coaches Poll

Ohio State is the overwhelming favorite to repeat as national champions and has been the unanimous No. 1 across every preseason magazine-web-fan poll from spring practice to August.

The Buckeyes are loaded with immense talent on both sides of the football, bring back several All-American candidates on offense and possess a front seven defensively led by Joey Bosa that should wreck the Big Ten.

On to our predictions …

Projecting the preseason AP Top 25

1. Ohio St
2. TCU
3. Auburn
4. Baylor
5. Alabama
6. Oregon
7. Michigan State
8. USC
9. Florida State
10. Georgia
11. Clemson
12. UCLA
13. Notre Dame
14. Ole Miss
15. LSU
16. Arizona State
17. Georgia Tech
18. Wisconsin
19. Missouri
20. Stanford
21. Arkansas
22. Oklahoma
23. Tennessee
24. Boise State
25. Arizona

SEC Notes:

  • America could very well place defending SEC champ Alabama over Auburn as the SEC’s highest-ranked team, but the lingering quarterback issue in Tuscaloosa (including an injured Jake Coker) could flip-flop the two. That’s not to mention the Tigers’ momentum throughout the offseason as a team expected to win double-digit games this fall.
  • Georgia, Ole Miss and LSU’s placement in the poll is a bit easier to project — all three likely will rank in the 10-to-15 range.
  • Two-time defending East champ Mizzou, though underrated throughout the poll process, should find itself inside the Top 20. Maty Mauk is back and the Tigers’ early-season schedule sets up favorably.
  • Arkansas lost some of its preseason buzz after the Jonathan Williams news. The Razorbacks have depth at running back, but losing their best player on offense from both a production and leadership standpoint is a damaging blow that voters will take into account. Pre-injury news, the Razorbacks would’ve been in the Top 20.
  • Tennessee might be coming off a so-so 7-6 season on the surface, but the Vols aren’t sneaking up on anyone this fall. There’s talent on both sides of the football, especially front to back on defense. The Vols will be one of the SEC’s last ranked teams on Sunday.
  • Texas A&M and Mississippi State could be a toss-up at No. 25, but I’m going with Arizona, a team that slid into the Coaches Poll at No. 22.

Update: You can view the actual preseason AP poll for the 2015 season here. As predicted, eight SEC teams were in the preseason poll, and Ohio State was named the first unanimous No. 1 preseason ranking in the history of the AP poll.
