The College Football Playoff selection committee’s rankings have taken center stage among rankings, but the Associated Press Top 25 poll is still a big part of the college football conversation. The AP Top 25 is also easier to project, coming from a larger body of voters that votes throughout the season (as opposed to starting in November like the committee).

The AP voters considered Saturday’s showdown in Tuscaloosa No. 1 vs. No. 2. Obviously, they’ll keep the Tigers at No. 1 with the big win (the committee should follow suit and elevate LSU to No. 1, but we’re concerned with the AP Top 25 right now).

The biggest question for AP voters is what to do with Minnesota and Penn State. The Golden Gophers are 9-0 after knocking a Nittany Lions squad the voters had ranked No. 5. The AP voters had Minnesota at No. 17. Now, clearly, they have to move PJ Fleck’s squad of boat rowers up. No. 9 seems like a good spot for the Gophers who are undefeated but only have the one big win.

Here’s how we project the new AP Top 25 after Week 11:

  1. LSU (9-0) def. No. 2 Alabama, 46-41
  2. Ohio State (9-0) def. Maryland, 73-14
  3. Clemson (9-0) leading NC State, 49-7 4Q
  4. Alabama (8-1) lost to No. 1 LSU, 46-41

  9. Minnesota (9-0) def. No. 5 Penn State, 31-26
  10. Florida (8-2) def. Vanderbilt, 56-0
  11. Baylor (9-0) def. TCU, 29-23 (3OT)
  12. Penn State (8-1) lost to Minnesota, 31-26
  13. Wisconsin (7-2) def. No. 18 Iowa, 24-22
