Parsing defensive tackles is tough. Does a player line up at end sometimes? What if he plays in a 3-4?

It’s tricky, but using depth charts and a bit of common sense, here’s the 10 best defensive tackles in the SEC for the 2015 season.

Of course, most of these guys have a chance for a big day in a bowl game before the season officially ends.

Let’s take a risk, and go ahead and rank them anyway:

10. DeMarcus Hodge, Arkansas — The senior from Monroe, La., posted 27 tackles, seven tackles for loss and a sack for the Razorbacks this season.

9. Owen Williams, Tennessee — The senior from Macon, Ga., posted 30 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and a sack in 2015.

8. Chris Mayes, Georgia — The Griffin, Ga., native did a nice job clogging the middle for the Bulldogs, finishing in the top 10 in tackles with 41.

7. Montravius Adams, Auburn — A junior from Vienna, Ga., Adams posted 42 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and a couple of sacks for the Tigers. He also had six quarterback hurries and a pair of forced fumbles.

6. Jarran Reed, Alabama — The Crimson Tide linemen in their 3-4 alignment play almost as tackles, freeing up linebackers to make plays. Reed has posted 56 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and a sack through the Cotton Bowl.

5. Chris Jones, Mississippi State —The junior from Houston, Miss., posted 44 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks.

4. Robert Nkemdiche, Ole Miss — He’s been making headlines for the wrong reasons lately, but the talented Nkemdiche has posted good numbers for the Rebels in 2015. He has 53 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss and half a sack on the season.

3. Cory Johnson, Kentucky — The senior from Columbia, S.C., led all SEC defensive tackles with 67 tackles while adding 8 tackles for loss and a couple of sacks.
