Three of the SEC’s top running backs were on byes in Week 9, leaving a lot to be desired from backfield play on Saturday.

Adding to the misery, one of the players in the top 10 (Florida’s Malik Davis) went down for the season with a knee injury.

However, there were still a few good performances across the conference, particularly in The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party and in the Tennessee-Kentucky game.

As we head into Week 10, here are the SEC’s top-10 running back rankings:

10. Malik Davis, Florida (Last week: 9)

Sadly, this will likely be the last appearance for the talented freshman because of his knee injury.

The Gators have a special talent in Davis, though, so whoever his new coach is should work Davis into the game plan next year. It should be a top priority.

This week: 4 carries, 20 yards; 1 catch, 6 yards
Season: 79 carries, 526 yards, 2 touchdowns; 7 catches, 58 yards

9. Jordan Wilkins, Ole Miss (LW: Not ranked)

Wilkins has come on strong in recent weeks, even as the Rebels have struggled to pick up victories.

The senior has become a legitimate two-way threat, making plays running and receiving. If he has another big game against Kentucky this weekend, he’ll start making a push for the top five.

This week: 16 carries, 118 yards, 1 touchdown; 1 catch, 24 yards
Season: 100 carries, 586 yards, 5 touchdowns; 20 catches, 194 yards, 1 touchdown

8. Aeris Williams, Mississippi State (LW: 8)

The Bulldogs picked up a big win at Texas A&M on Saturday, but once again Williams didn’t figure into the scoring.

He had a fine day, running for 68 yards, but QB Nick Fitzgerald threw for two touchdowns and ran for one to provide the bulk of the scoring for Mississippi State.

This week: 22 carries, 68 yards
Season: 139 carries, 662 yards, 2 touchdowns; 11 catches, 77 yards

7. John Kelly, Tennessee (LW: 5)

It looked like Kelly was going to run away with this award through the first part of the season, but then the Vols’ offense slowed down considerably.

This week, Kelly was suspended and watched as backup Ty Chandler ran for 120 yards and two touchdowns.

When Kelly comes back, he might have to share more carries with Chandler, as the young backup has proven he deserves more looks.

This week: SUSPENDED
Season: 125 carries, 615 yards, 6 touchdowns; 26 catches, 255 yards

6. Sony Michel, Georgia (LW: 7)

After struggling against Florida during his first three years at Georgia, Michel broke out in a big way against the Gators on Saturday.

With scoring runs of 74 and 45 yards, it’s safe to stay he finally got the performance he wanted against the Bulldogs’ rivals, and he did his damage with only six touches, making it even sweeter.

This week: 6 carries, 137 yards, 2 touchdowns
Season: 74 carries, 629 yards, 8 touchdowns; 2 catches, 1 yard

5. Derrius Guice, LSU (LW: 4)

Guice didn’t get a chance to keep the momentum going from his huge 250-yard performance against Ole Miss, as the Tigers had a bye week.

Now, he has to face No. 1 Alabama, so he’ll need to do something special once again to give the Tigers a chance to pull off the upset on the road.

This week: BYE
Season: 124 carries, 711 yards, 6 touchdowns; 6 catches, 42 yards

4. Damien Harris, Alabama (LW: 2)

Harris leads the SEC at 8.6 yards per carry.

Since Harris has only touched the ball 87 times this year, he’ll be fresh for the Crimson Tide’s last four games.

That’s bad news for those opponents, as Harris is averaging a whopping 8.6 yards per carry and seems to have a nose for the end zone.

This week: BYE
Season: 81 carries, 697 yards, 10 touchdowns; 6 catches, 46 yards

3. Benny Snell Jr., Kentucky (LW: 6)

Snell pretty much single-handedly put the Wildcats on his back in a come-from-behind win over Tennessee on Saturday, rushing for nearly 200 yards and three scores.

Without Snell, there’s no way the Wildcats would be bowl eligible right now, as he is Kentucky’s clear MVP through nine weeks.

This week: 27 carries, 180 yards, 3 touchdowns
Season: 160 carries, 721 yards, 9 touchdowns; 9 catches, 52 yards

2. Kerryon Johnson, Auburn (LW: 1)

Though Johnson lost some of his goal-line carries to Kamryn Pettway on Oct. 21 against Arkansas, he still found the end zone once to bring his touchdown total to an impressive 14.

Games against Georgia and Alabama loom large on the Tigers’ remaining schedule, but perhaps Johnson will get a chance to pad his stats a bit against struggling Texas A&M this Saturday afternoon.

This week: BYE
Season: 137 carries, 723 yards, 14 touchdowns; 8 catches, 57 yards

1. Nick Chubb, Georgia (LW: 3)

As the only member of last week’s top three to be in action on Saturday, it’s no surprise Chubb reclaimed his spot at the top of this list.

Though Michel overshadowed him against the Gators (see above), Chubb still closed his career against Florida with another impressive showing.

This week: 13 carries, 77 yards, 1 touchdown
Season: 120 carries, 765 yards, 9 touchdowns; 1 catch, 11 yards
