With so many of the top running backs on byes this week and next, it’ll be tough to judge who belongs where.

However, LSU’s Derrius Guice made a big move this week as he ran for 276 yards against Ole Miss on Saturday, rising several places in the rankings.

With more runners idle next week, the rankings are sure to shuffle again as new players impress.

However, heading into Week 9, here’s how the top 10 among SEC running backs shakes out:

10. Trayveon Williams, Texas A&M (Last week: 9)

Williams hasn’t had a big game in a few weeks but he’s always a threat to break out.

The Mississippi State defense has given up some yards on the ground, though, to teams like Georgia and Auburn, so Williams has a chance to shine again on Saturday night.

This week: BYE
Season: 91 carries, 440 yards, 5 touchdowns; 12 catches, 109 yards

9. Malik Davis, Florida (LW: 8)

Florida’s offense has struggled, but Davis continues to be a bright spot.

He only has two touchdowns and needs to start finding the end zone in any way possible, but the dual-threat runner should continue to be a big part of the Gators’ game plans.

8. Aeris Williams, Mississippi State (LW: 10)

Williams would be much higher on this list if he found the end zone more. He ranks sixth in the SEC in rushing yards but he has two touchdowns, at least four fewer than everyone ahead of him in these rankings.

Quarterback Nick Fitzgerald handles most of the goal-line work, but Williams needs to get more opportunities and take advantage of them to rise any higher.

This week: 20 carries, 71 yards
Season: 117 carries, 594 yards, 2 touchdowns; 11 catches, 77 yards

7. Sony Michel, Georgia (LW: 6)

The emergence of true freshman D’Andre Swift has been a big benefit for the Bulldogs, but down the stretch, the experience of Michel and Nick Chubb will be valuable.

Michel is ready to make his senior season special, and Georgia will rely on him heavily in the coming weeks as the Bulldogs try to preserve their perfect record.

This week: BYE
Season: 68 carries, 492 yards, 6 touchdowns; 2 catches, 1 yard

6. Benny Snell Jr., Kentucky (LW: 5)

The Wildcats had a terrible afternoon in Starkville on Saturday, falling 45-7 and getting dominated in every aspect of the game.

Snell leads Kentucky’s offense, and as he goes, so go the Wildcats. Therefore, his stat line — seven carries for 18 yards — tells you all you need to know about Kentucky’s second loss of the season.

This week: 7 carries, 18 yards; 1 catch, 14 yards
Season: 133 carries, 541 yards, 6 touchdowns; 9 catches, 52 yards

5. John Kelly, Tennessee (LW: 4)

Somehow, Kelly continues to produce amid the dumpster fire that is Tennessee’s offense.

This week, he took on the Alabama defense and fared about as well as one could have hoped, especially as the passing game continues to provide zero production.

For some reason, the Vols still refuse to give him the ball more, but perhaps that will change this weekend at Kentucky.

This week: 12 carries, 63 yards; 2 catches, 5 yards
Season: 125 carries, 615 yards, 6 touchdowns; 26 catches, 255 yards

4. Derrius Guice, LSU (LW: 7)

Guice was in legitimate danger of falling off of this list last week, but he bounced back in a big way, becoming the first player in SEC history with three games of 250-plus rushing yards.

Now that he appears to be fully healthy, more big games could be on the horizon for the talented back, especially since he has a bye this weekend to rest some more.

This week: 22 carries, 276 yards, 1 touchdown; 1 catch, 9 yards
Season: 124 carries, 711 yards, 6 touchdowns; 6 catches, 42 yards

3. Nick Chubb, Georgia (LW: 2)

Getting Chubb to this point fully healthy has been nice for the Bulldogs. After a week off, Chubb should be ready for an even heavier workload down the stretch.

At 7-0, the Bulldogs are eyeing a special season, and Chubb would love nothing more than to lead his team to an undefeated regular season during his senior year.

This week: BYE
Season: 107 carries, 688 yards, 8 touchdowns; 1 catch, 11 yards

2. Damien Harris, Alabama (LW: 3)

Harris continues to do more with less than any other player in the country. Running behind the Alabama offensive line certainly helps, but Harris has taken over as the leader of the Crimson Tide’s high-powered backfield.

He’s fresh for the stretch, too, which will be critical for Alabama as games against LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn loom large on the schedule.

This week: 13 carries, 72 yards, 1 touchdown
Season: 81 carries, 697 yards, 10 touchdowns; 6 catches, 46 yards

1. Kerryon Johnson, Auburn (LW: 1)

Kamryn Pettway worked his way back into the rotation this weekend, scoring three touchdowns while Johnson only got one.

Johnson still received 23 touches to Pettway’s 11, though, so he’ll continue to be a big part of the Auburn offense moving forward and should continue to put up huge numbers.

This week: 21 carries, 63 yards, 1 touchdown; 2 catches, 15 yards
Season: 137 carries, 723 yards, 14 touchdowns; 8 catches, 57 yards
