Arizona State recently fired coach Todd Graham and started searching for a replacement.

Quickly, ESPN analyst and former NFL coach Herm Edwards emerged as a candidate, though not many people thought he’d actually land the job.

However, on Wednesday night, it was reported Edwards actually will be the next coach of the Sun Devils, according to SunDevilSource.com:

Edwards hasn’t coached at the college level since 1989, when he was an assistant coaching defensive backs at San Jose State. He then moved on to the NFL, but he hasn’t coached a game at that level since 2008.

Since then, he’s been at ESPN, breaking down the NFL for the network. Whether or not he can jump back into the coaching ranks remains to be seen, but he’ll be expected to improve upon what Graham did during his time in Tempe.
