For whatever reason, the past year has seen two new football leagues decide to launch, with the Alliance of American Football kicking off this year and the new-look XFL debuting in 2020.

The AAF will kick off its first games this weekend, but the XFL is dominating the news cycle on Wednesday.

Per a report from Pro Football Talk, former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops is expected to be the new coach and general manager of the Dallas XFL franchise:

Expect the coach/G.M. of the Dallas franchise to be former Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops.

If/when (when) that happens, it will be big. And it will give the XFL a kick in the pants, just as the AAF launches.

That’s obviously a huge get for the XFL, as Stoops has been linked to a number of jobs since retiring from Oklahoma a couple of years ago.

Stoops will now enjoy one more season of retirement before returning to the sidelines as a coach of a pro franchise.
