Report: Houston expected to fire coach Major Applewhite after embarrassing bowl loss
The Houston Cougars were blown out by Army in the Armed Forces Bowl, falling by the embarrassing score of 70-14.
After finishing the year 8-5, it appears the Cougars have decided to move on from coach Major Applewhite.
Per reports from the Houston Chronicle and SB Nation, the Cougars have decided to fire Applewhite and are targeting West Virginia’s Dana Holgorsen to replace him:

Holgorsen was previously an assistant at Houston, running the Cougars’ offense, so he’s familiar with the school.
However, it would be strange to see him leave a Big 12 program for an AAC school, so we’ll see if the Cougars get him or if they have to go a different route.
