Business Insider conducted a study analyzing how much FBS college football players would earn based on the NFL’s revenue share. According to its results, Alabama, Tennessee and Auburn would be among the top 5 highest earning teams, but Texas football players would earn more money that any other college football program.

The study included estimates for each player using data from the Department of Education and the NFL’s revenue share policy. In this case, college players would get 47 percent of all revenue — like professionals do — and each school’s football revenue would be split between the university and athletes. Accounting for 85 scholarship players, the revenue would be divided evenly among each player.

Based on these results, Texas players would earn $622,104, which was $130,000 more than Alabama’s $536,485 average salary.

Tennessee players would earn $521,845, which ranked third, followed by Michigan ($487,9779) and Auburn ($479,634) respectively. The study concluded that the average FBS salary would be $163,869.
