The SEC might be dominating in recruiting as it always does, but it won’t be claiming the No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2016.

At least that’s according to Brian Dohn of Scout.com, who is reporting that five-star defensive tackle Rashan Gary is deciding between Michigan and Clemson.

Gary took an official visit to Clemson instead of Alabama this past weekend, which was an indication that Gary was leaning away from Tuscaloosa.

If Gary does, in fact, choose not to play in the SEC, he’d be the first top-rated recruit to not play in the conference since Matt Barkley chose USC in 2009.

The 6-foot-5, 293-pound prospect out of Paramus, N.J., will announce his final decision at 1 p.m. ET on ESPN 2 this Wednesday.
