Last week, Florida State QB Deondre Francois was placed in a diversion program for a marijuana following an incident where police executed a search warrant on his house and found 17 grams of the drug.

Now, though, it has been reported that Francois may have had much more marijuana at one time — perhaps as much as two pounds, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

According to reporter Matt Baker, police received an anonymous tip and believe Francois had the intent to sell marijuana:

The case — which culminated Thursday when Francois agreed to a pre-arrest diversion program on misdemeanor complaints of possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia — began in February. That’s when an anonymous tipster known to law enforcement reported seeing a grocery bag of marijuana at Francois’ home. Police estimated it was about two pounds of the drug – “in excess of what a common ‘user’ of cannabis might have on hand at any given point,” according to the search warrant affidavit.

Following the spring game, new coach Willie Taggart addressed the incident involving the star quarterback, who missed most of last year with a leg injury:

“He understands his responsibility as a student athlete here,” Taggart said. “He understands my expectation of what I’m looking for, especially when it comes to our quarterback. He’s got to be smart about who he’s around and what he’s around, and make good decisions.”

Whether Francois is cleared to play or not remains to be seen, but it’s probably safe to say he’s on thin ice in Tallahassee moving forward.
