After all the hype surrounding Tommy Tuberville potentially running for governor in the state of Alabama in 2018, it turns out the former Auburn and Ole Miss coach will not be making an effort to earn that role.

According to a report by Brandon Marcello of Auburn Undercover, Tuberville will publicly announce his decision not to run for the office in the near future.

This decision comes after Tuberville began the process by taking several steps to make his first potential run in politics, as well as seemingly making public attempts to sway Alabama fans unlikely to vote for a coach that won six games in a row over the Crimson Tide. In total, Tuberville had an impressive 7-3 record over the Tide during his time at Auburn but was fired following Auburn’s 36-point shutout loss to Alabama in 2008.

Soon after the report, Tuberville himself confirmed the news regarding his decision to not run for governor.
